TAIRbZIP transcription factor induced by salt stress and promoted salt tolerance. Localized to the cytoplasm and nucleus under control conditions and targeted preferentially to the nucleus under salt stress
UniProtTranscription factor involved in the regulation of salt stress response. Functions as a negative transcriptional regulator of salt stress acclimation response by regulating cation homeostasis (PubMed:18703123, PubMed:19248824). Regulates negatively the expression of genes contributing to ion and osmotic homeostasis during salt stress, such as the Na(+) transporter HKT1, the Na(+)/H(+) antiporter SOS1, the aquaporin PIP2-1 and the glutamine synthetase GLN1-3.
