Expression -- Description ? help Back to Top
Source Description
UniprotDEVELOPMENTAL STAGE: Detected in axillary mersitems which appears in the axils of leaves after flowering. During bud vegetative development, down-regulated in the outer layers of the meristem, but accumulates transiently in young leaf primordia. In buds bearing flowers, restricted to the provascular tissue underlying the bud. Accumulates in axillary buds, but disappears at the time of bud outgrowth. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:17307924}.
UniprotTISSUE SPECIFICITY: Expressed in unelongated axillary buds, and, to a lower extent, in axillary structures such as flowers and siliques. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:17307924, ECO:0000269|PubMed:17452340}.
Functional Description ? help Back to Top
Source Description
TAIREncodes a TCP transcription factor, closely related to teosinte branched1, arrests axillary bud development and prevents axillary bud outgrowth.
UniProtTranscription factor that prevents axillary bud outgrowth and delays early axillary bud development. Indirectly required for the auxin-induced control of apical dominance. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:17307924, ECO:0000269|PubMed:17452340}.

  1. BRANCHED1 (BRC1) plays a central role in the control of axillary bud development. BRC1 acts as a local integrator of the genetic pathways controlling branch outgrowth. [BRC1]
    [PMID: 17307924]
  2. The Arabidopsis thaliana gene BRANCHED1 (BRC1), expressed in axillary buds, is required for branch suppression in response to shade.
    [PMID: 23524661]
  3. Data indicate that BRANCHED1 (BRC1) interacts with the florigen proteins FLOWERING LOCUS T (FT) and TWIN SISTER OF FT (TSF) but not with TERMINAL FLOWER1, a floral repressor.
    [PMID: 23613197]
  4. a coherent feed-forward loop in which strigolactone treatment reduces the probability of bud activation by parallel effects on BRC1 transcription and the shoot auxin transport network.
    [PMID: 28289131]
  5. results reveal that TIE1 is an important shoot branching regulator, and provide new insights in the post-transcriptional regulation of the TCP transcription factor BRC1
    [PMID: 29570704]

UniProtINDUCTION: Induced during environmentally induced bud dormancy (planting density). Repressed transiently after shoot apical meristem (SAM) decapitation (release from apical dominance). {ECO:0000269|PubMed:17307924}.
